Friends

Today after dance class, I took Addy with me to Jiffy Lube to get my oil changed. Dressed in her pink and black tutu, pink tights and red sparkly shoes, Addison walked 4 or 5 shops down with me to Weinershnitzel for a treat- her favorite- a hot dog! Just before we got to Weinerschnitzel, we walked past a Whataburger, where Addison saw an elderly couple getting out of their car and walking toward the restaurant. (using the word restaurant to describe Whataburger just feels weird, but I digress)

This couple was SO adorable. Slow walking, hand holding adorable.

"Friends!" Addison shouted.
"Are those your friends?" I asked her.
"Yeah!"
"Well, say hi to them!" I encouraged her.
"Hi, friends!"
They didn't hear her. I told her to say it louder as we were walking closer, and finally after maybe four tries, they saw and heard her.

Oh, the looks on their faces as Addison ran toward them, "Hi, friends!" was priceless. Obviously impressed with her outfit, they asked her if she had just attended a party. I told her to tell them where she had just been, and she said proudly, "dance class". The woman reached out to shake her hand, and Addison reached right up and shook her hand! And THEN, SHE reached her hand toward the man, to shake HIS hand! They told her how pretty she was, she got the silly coy look that she gets, they continued to admire her, she ate it up... we wished them a yummy lunch and went on our way.

I won't spoil this story by telling you about the time-out that had to happen, outside of Whataburger, not 15 seconds after this took place, because Addison refused to hold my hand and tried to run away from me- into the parking lot.

No, I won't do that. Instead I will end by saying how very proud I was of my sweet daughter. I was elated to see her bring such joy into these two people's lives. I don't think I'll ever forget it.

How I wake up

Overheard via monitor every morning:

"Mommy, ARE YOU?
Addy wake!
Are you??
Hold you.
Mommy. Moommy. Moommmmy!
Are you??
Hold you, Mommy! Hold you!"

Translation:
"Mommy, where are you?!?!
Addy's awake!
Where are you??
Hold me!"

You get the idea. Too cute.

More pictures, mainly. Sea World. Day Family Reunion.

Addison's talent at the talent show, just one more picture :)

Grandma. She's the greatest.

Addison watching the dolphin and acrobatics show at Sea World.

It was a hot day!! No sunburn, though!

Mommy and Addy checking out the Sea lions.

And that's all for Sea World. Obviously, we did way more than this, but Mike and I just failed to take ANY pictures!

Back at the reunion, we played $25,000 pyramid

It was so much fun!!

My Uncle Frank and I ready to claim victory in the scavenger hunt.

Our team didn't win.

And... here's just a new, cute pic of Addy and her cousins at bath time tonight.

So I think I'd like to Dance like this

OKAY. I've been otherwise occupied, and have neglected the SYTYCD commentaries here on my blog. But, I have 5 minutes, so I will share my 2 favorite pieces from tonight's show.

The first dance was inspired by addiction: the man symbolized the addiction, she was fighting it. It was moving and beautiful.

This one is choreographed by possibly my favorite choreographer ever. He is consistently brilliant.

You're welcome.

Day Talent Show

Let's just say this first: The "theme" for our reunion was "Dazed and Confused". Maybe that will prepare you for the talent, or lack thereof, you are about to witness.

Adam made a strange voice somehow with his hand and his neck?

Abbie danced (her own choreographed routine!)

Susan read a poem

Addison danced. This is a spinning shot.
Above is a good DeM t-shirt shot (we had her in her jammies in anticipation of an immediate crash out in the car. And boy, were we right.)

Mike juggled. He started out with small balls then moved on to basketballs!!

Aislynn flipped with the help of her big sister, Devynn.

Grandma recited her ABC's. I don't think any of us had the heart to tell her that she had performed that same talent at our last reunion a few summers ago in Iowa.

My crazy sister (I say that adoringly!) doing the splits while 7 months pregnant.

Melissa's kids sang the instrumental theme song to Jurassic Park. It's the CUTEST. "Da da, Da, da. Dadadadadadada!"

And Brooklyn DANCED. Harder and with more seriousness than the rest of the dancers combined.

As you can see, the Day family talent is boundless :) And one of the only non-Days in attendance (my husband) probably won!! I have more to post, but it just might have to be tomorrow... we'll see. It is 4am after all.

DANCE PARTY!

You know I like to party when there is a dance floor and DJ. Add vodka to the mix, and I an LOVIN life.

Now, having said that, I don't think there are many pics of me dancing. My uncle took most of these pictures, and somehow, he seemed to think the kids and Grandma were more impressive. Whatever. You'll also notice the dance party started before sunset and carried well into the night.

Anyway. Here's Addison dancing with Uncle Frank.

Kelly breaking it down with her 10 year old son, Andrew.

Grandma and Frank. How HAPPY does she look?!

Addison and Uncle Adam

I'm pretty sure N'Synch's "Bye Bye Bye" was on. Why I'm not doing the same moves as everyone else, I'm not so sure. I probably was just the only one doing it right :)

Devynn and Melissa. My question is: who the heck was I so angry with? :)

Lots to post... where to start?

How bout with more water-slide, outside play. The next post will be professional pics, talent show and dance party.

Here is my Uncle Frank, the biggest kid in attendance, on the slide: )

My cousin Sherri's daughter, Aislynn, is COMPLETELY fearless little girl (just a few months older than Abbie)

Andrew, my mom's second cousin's son (I think I got that right!) was pretty brave as well.

Addison and Aislynn (Aislynn's about 10 months younger than playing in the after-rain puddles

Bath time in the troth lol

Addy playing with Uncle Frank- a kid magnet. He's the best. They are discussing moving down here, I SO hope they do. If for no other reason, but for Addison! (We would LOVE to have you here, too guys! We'd have such fun!!)

Here's Abbie showing off her beautiful dress

SO, you guys tell me... Is THIS what I look like when I talk?
Or is it more like THIS? Things I need to know!!

And, my favorite sidewalk art, courtesy of Devynn, my cousin Sherri's daughter

And now on to the professional photos, dance party (you KNOW I had some fun) and talent show!!
