The NERVE!

This morning after dropping Addy off at school, I walked back out to my car, and saw two women having a conversation behind my car. Didn't think much of it. So, I got in my car, started my car, put the car in reverse, eased my food off the brake, and stopped after moving one inch, because the women were still there. Now, instead of, I don't know, MOVING OVER 3 FEET, the women just STOOD there and continued their conversation!! You might recall, if you live in Austin, that it was raining this morning. These idiot women had neither the wherewithal to stand under an umbrella or move to the covered car port, or the common sense to freaking move out of the way of a car trying to go somewhere. These were either really bitchy or really stupid women I was dealing with here. They for sure saw me- my car was on, reverse lights were on, and I was a foot away from them, exhaust fumes warming their calves. So, I sat in my car for TWO minutes before these crazies wrapped up their conversation and moved along their merry way. Mike asks "why didn't you say something?" and I don't know!! I think I was just so PISSED that it somehow felt good to fume in my car while timing them. Does that make me dramatic? Probably, but who are we kidding, we all know I am slightly dramatic. Anyway, drama aside, this made me so angry that it practically ruined the first half of my day.

Gladly, and miraculously, my day ended on a good note. So these two horrible mommys didn't ruin my WHOLE day. Just half of it.

The NERVE!!

Our Rock Star

Mom bought Beatles Rock Band, and it is SO FUN! Of all of the kids, Addison is definitely the most reserved, more of an observer (just like her Daddy!). The first time we played, all of the Best kids participated and Addy had fun watching. This was our second time playing, and Addison had finally warmed up to the idea of joining in. Here is Addy partaking in the Beatles Rock Band fun. She didn't ever really do more than stick the microphone in her mouth, but I must say, she was feelin' the groove with her dance moves :-)

Shutterfly page updated!

http://addisonadair.shutterfly.com
password is lola

Enjoy!

ACK! WHY can't I do something as simple as linking to a different website? What am I doing wrong?

Gattiland with cousins

Today we joined GaGa, Melissa and the kids for a lunch play date at Gattiland. Everything just keeps getting more fun the older Addison gets. She won a Daisy Duck doll and got a ballon-animal-except-it-was-a-sword. And she's FINALLY smiling for pictures! Hooray!

Here are some fun pics:

Addy and Auntie! LOVE. (and can i just say without taking away from any of the cuteness or sweetness or awesomeness that is this picture, that i am in the process of growing addison's bangs out and they are at that in between phase, where they are always in her eyes, they don't go in a ponytail yet, and addy won't let me put clips in her hair, like ever at all, so this is what we have for a while, and it drives me crazy, and i just want everyone to know that i would never style her hair like this on purpose, it's just the way it is. WHEW, i feel better) Anyway, LOVE.

Apparently when you ask the Best kids to "say cheese", what they do is show you what's in their mouths.

This picture just makes me laugh. The look on my face as I am possibly a split-second behind stopping her from an over-hand throw!

As I said in a previous post, partners in crime. Hand in hand, going to play games together!!

Unfortunately, it is virtually impossible to get a picture where all of the kids look cute at the same time. In this case, the misfortune fell on Abbie, who doesn't look... well, like herself.

"Confessions", pt 5

"Good Morning, Miss, Sarah, my name is _____"

"Do you have any news today?"

"I'm in high school now."

"You're in high school now? WOW! How old are you?"

Confirmed Vertigo. And dreams that come with being sick.

Par for the course of back to school, I caught a "bug", and fell violently ill late Monday evening. High fever, vomiting, diarrhea, GROSS. It lasted for about 12 hours. Once the fever, etc., subsided, and I was able to keep liquids down, I still felt awful. Which is normal, comes with dehydration, but I really felt AWFUL. Very similar to the symptoms I blogged about a few weeks ago- the allusive vertigo. Today was no better- I could barely drive Addy to school. Could barely walk straight. Really could barely lay in bed without wanting to barf everywhere. So I went to the doctor. She confirmed what I thought was going on (maybe I should be a doctor!!)... caught a bug, vertigo coincidentally followed. The vertigo might last 48 more hours due to the dehydration remaining from the bug. She said that if I get another bout of vertigo within the month to call back, that they will want to do MRI testing, etc., to rule bad things out. She gave me a prescription to help with the dizziness, and I am feeling so much better already.

So there's that update.

Just wanted to throw some other thoughts out there... while sick, I have the strangest dreams. Always do.

One dream I had was that Jon Gosselin had died of a sudden heart attack, and it was HUGE news. And in the same dream, Britney Spears was very pregnant with K-Fed's baby, and they were all the way back together. This dream also had Kim and NeNe from the Real Housewives of Atlanta at happy hour with me, they were very enjoyable and I was baffled by their "edit" on the show.

Please don't judge me for the things that are obviously deeply seeded in my sub-conscious. I can't help it.

Another dream I had was in regards to a dance studio/team that we closely compete with every year. And that we have lost too many students to. Bess, Melissa and I were "shopping" for a new studio location for some reason, and stumbled upon their studio during one of their practices. There were many familiar faces, that part of the dream was not fun. But when they started to practice, the dream got GOOD. Their routine was America themed, and the choreography and music choices were atrocious. Wish I could remember the songs. I'll bet if I try hard enough I could, but there's also a good chance that all that will do is drive me more crazy, so I'm not gonna do it. Sorry. But I CAN remember that they ended their dance with a large screen coming down from the ceiling, playing video of a Jonas Brother (the curly haired one) seriously, no not seriously, SERIOUSLY, reciting the pledge of allegiance and the dancers kneeling on one knee, almost bowing to him. Bess and I giggled so bad and had to leave before the dance was over. It was very funny, and somehow I woke up happy from this dream. Until I realized I couldn't turn my head without wanting to barf all over Lola, who sleeps ON TOP of me during nap time. Neat.

I have a confession to make

No... I'm not pregnant. Gah, you people.

Within the last 24 hours I have eaten:
Cheeseburger
Large tater tots
Large coke
1 bowl of snickers ice cream
some vodka
1 bowl of chocolate ice cream
Taco Bell Nachos
Taco Bell bean burrito
Taco Bell 7 layer burrito
copious amounts of wine
McDonalds large coffee
McDonalds big breakfast platter (what is wrong with me?)
Slice of cheese pizza

If you get a phone call from me tomorrow morning, don't be alarmed. I might need your assistance in ordering a crane to lift me out of bed.

For those of you who don't have FB

Stevie and Angel.

Do you know Stevie and Angel? If not, you should. They are only the most brilliant, beautiful, gifted choreographers I have ever had the pleasure of working with. They also happen to be students of mine, since year one at DeM. They are currently students at TWU: dance majors. They only have amazingness in their futures. This is the truth.

Stevie and Angel choreographed two routines for us this year. This is their modern, choreographed for our 4-6 grade team purple. Never in my wildest imagination would I be able to conceive this choreography. Their talent amazes me.

The Obsession has RETURNED

This fall season of So you think you can dance is going to be hard. I love the show so much and usually never miss it on the night it airs, but my fall schedule is a bit more packed than summer. Anyway, I will still be watching, just probably on the dvr later... Of course, I already have some faves.

Check these out:

This guy. He is so pleasing to watch and his technique is near flawless. Love him and really hope to see him in Top 20.

And these girls. Mainly the second. Am digging around on youtube to find more of her, she is captivating to me. (and I like her hair :) )

Hope you enjoyed!

Confessions, Pt. 4

Remember these?

"Good Morning Ms. Sarah, my name is ____"

"Do you have any news today?"

"Maybe the kids that aren't here yet are dead. Maybe they died in their beds."

((speechless)) "Um. Well, let's hope not. Everybody up- let's dance?!?"

First day of school

Last night when putting Addison to bed, I reminded her that when she woke up in the morning, it would be time to get ready to go to school. And boy, did she remember.

Overheard via monitor: "Mommy, are you? Addy wake. School day! Mommy! School day!"

There were no fights over her outfit, no fights over her hair, and... this is the big one... no fights over her shoes. She was ready and willing to do whatever it took to get to school!

On the car ride there, we talked about how Mommy was not going to stay, I had to go to work, that I would come back to get her when school time was over.

"Okay, mommy. You go to work. I go to school"

I sensed a brief moment of panic as we parked the car. "Mommy stay?" I reminded her that this was HER school and of all of the fun things Ms. Amy and Ms. Sarai (WHY does she spell it that way? It's totally pronounced Sarah. WhatEVER)... um, I told her about all of the fun things her teachers had planned, and the panic subsided, she was back to being excited.

There were no tears as I dropped her off. There were however, tears when I picked her up. She was just a tired little girl. Pick-up time was pretty rushed, since it was the first day, so I didn't get much from her teachers aside from "She did great!"

When I asked her how her day was and what she did, she responded, "eat dinner". Funny thing is, when I looked in her lunch box, 95% of her sandwich remained, her yogurt was still un-opened- all that seemed to be missing was the grapes. Aside from "eating dinner", I wasn't able to get much more out of her. We'll see if she'll share more after Friday's class.

And now, the part you've probably been waiting for. The pictures!

Bye, Mommy!!

OKAY, Mommy. Let's GO!

Waiting patiently for her turn to go in. (the first day, they go in one at a time) We won't comment on the sleepy eye look she's sporting.

There she goes, my big 2 year old! (and the cutes, curliest, head of hair you've ever seen!)

Absolutely no labor on Labor Day

What a great luxury 3 day weekends are. Seriously. We get all of our necessary "crap" (i.e. laundry, cleaning, etc.) taken care of and have an extra day to really relax and play. NOVEL IDEA: We should have 3 day weekends EVERY weekend! Whoever is responsible for how many days go in a weekend should really consider this. Hopefully they read my blog. (GaGa, Grammi, is it you??)

Speaking (blogging) 0f. Today we joined Grammi and Grandpa, along with Nana and Papa for lunch. A few pics from lunch:

Grammi, Addison and Nana

Addy and Nana

Grandpa, Addy and Grammi. Can't believe we acually caught the smile at the right moment.

Papa, Nana and Mike

After going home for a nap...

We visited Brandon, Haila and Kassidy's house for a Labor Day BBQ:

Kassie and Addy being silly and sitting in a swimming pool

Playing at the "dinner table"

Yep, these are all of the pictures I have from the afternoon with friends. That's what Sangria, Queso and relaxation does... makes you forget to document all cute moments. Dammit. Maybe if my every weekend is a 3 day weekend ideas passes I'll get the hang of taking pictures more regularly.

Cousin Love

Mike and I went and saw Inglorious Basterds tonight (EXCELLENT FILM) and my mom watched Addy for us. (Thanks again, GaGa). The Bests came over for dinner as well, and when they arrived, I knew I wanted to take some pictures of Abbie- I thought her outfit was too cute!

Here are some fun and cute shots I got of the kids:

Such a natural poser

Even knows how to pose to show off the back of an outfit

Addy's getting the hang of posing, thanks to big cousin Abbie.

Abbie's hands never left her head, so neither did Addison's

Group shot- notice the hands behind the head :) Addy, 2; Abigail, 5; Micah almost 2; Jude almost 4

Addison and Micah, partners in crime

Sweet Abbie and Jude

Hook 'em!

FALL IS HERE! Bringing us back to school, (slightly) cooler temps, and best of all... COLLEGE FOOTBALL!

We kicked off the Longhorn season at our place, with a few friends. A couple of pics from the evening:

We're still working on "hook 'em"

She just looks like such a big girl here!

She REALLY loved Jake. (she really loved all of the men...go figure)

Checking out pictures of Kalyn's daughter, Embyr, who was home with a babysitter.

Hanging out with Kay.

An awesome family shot. In my opinion.

You should know by now that I'm not ashamed to brag. Yes, I made cupcakes with burnt orange frosting. And they were delicious.

Addy's school orientation

Tonight (while parents were unhappy at the studio- see below), Mike and I attended Addy's pre-school orientation. Oh, we are SO excited about this year of school for Addison! Her teacher's names are Ms. Amy and Ms. Sarah and they are great. Each month we will be given a curriculum list, things the class will be learning and working on. For example, in September, they will work on: the color yellow, the square shape, getting to know you and me, new friends, the five senses. They also give us a list of songs they sing so we can reinforce all of this at home. They have a music teacher come in every day, they do an art project every day and have story time and table activity every day as well. (in addition to indoor and outdoor play time, snack time and lunch time). I am SO excited! Yay for Addison and yay for school! She starts next Wednesday, so I'm sure I'll bloggy blog to let you all know how her first day went.

Oh, and Addy and I get to go on Friday so she can meet her teachers and get acquainted with the classroom, etc. I am very much looking forward to this as well. :)

3 hours ago, I would have said "So far, so good!"

First week back has been awesome. It's been amazing to see the studio so full and to see SO MANY new faces! I have loved every second that I have taught, it's truly been so much fun.

Not going to go into detail, but tonight gave a few parents reason to complain. I feel slightly annoyed with this, because I prepared these parents last week for the very thing they are complaining about. And I told them that within 2 weeks we would be fixing the problem. Anyway, it took some parents less than 20 minutes after their class ended to send me grumpy emails. Hmph.

I will fix this problem and hopefully the rest of the week will go as smoothly as it was going before tonight. I really do LOVE MY JOB. (don't think I've felt that way in 2 or maybe even 3 years).
